Meet Ms. Winton

My name is Amy Winton. I grew up in Connecticut and attended Bowdoin College. I attended UC Berkeley's Developmental Teacher Education Program (DTE) to pursue a Master's Degree in Child Development.  For two years, I took rigorous courses and taught in five very diverse schools across the Bay Area.

Upon graduation, I settled into a fifth-grade classroom at Marin Country Day School. I remained there for five years and then was recruited back to UC Berkeley to teach and supervise graduate students in DTE. Concurrently, I went back to school to get an advanced degree in Educational Therapy, the field specializing in learning disabilities and learning styles.

Our first son , TJ was born just two days before 9/11 and that event compelled my husband and I to reconsider if we wanted to remain on the West Coast or move back to New England to be near family.

In July 2002, we moved to Falmouth, ME. My husband reinvented his green architecture/consulting firm and I maintained a small practice for students with learning disabilities.  In February 2004 we had our second child, Abby.

I continued to tutor and was always very active in my children's schools, the local public library, and Portland Trails.  Once my own two children left the elementary schools, I resumed full-time teaching in the public schools. This year (2023-24) will be my seventh year in Yarmouth. My son is now a senior at the University of Pittsburgh and my daughter is a sophomore at Bates.

Here's our 2023-2024 Schedule:
