Fluency Without Fear Article
Following this well-researched article about learning math facts there are a number of games you can play help your child at home. There are even some game boards and "flash-card" like templates that students tend to really enjoy. Finally, there is also a list of on-line resources as well if you choose that route.

In this article from The Atlantic, it describes why " Teachers should celebrate and encourage finger use among younger learners and enable learners of any age to strengthen this brain capacity through finger counting and use." 

Games

Don't Break The Bank  Game for developing place value concepts and practicing multi-digit addition. Can be modified to practice multi-digit subtraction. 

Place Value Battleship  Game to develop place value concepts. Students may alter the game by giving the person guessing a number a small clue. For example, if the person guessed 400 and you had something greater in that place, tell them your number is greater than that. 

Dicey Operations in a Line Who said that adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing couldn't be fun?

Three Neighbors In this open ended challenge students will add consecutive numbers and try and form a theory about the patterns they observe.
